The fashion mogul, who is planning a March baby shower, recently visited L.A.’s Bel Bambini boutique to pick out clothing and accessories for her little one – and one observer noticed that Simpson, 31, was thinking pink.

“Jessica and her mom [Tina Simpson] and spent over an hour at the store,” the observer tells PEOPLE. “She took her time picking out the perfect baby items.”

Among the selection made by Simpson, whose new NBC show, Fashion Star, premieres March 13? Pink baby clothes, a Moses basket, and, the source adds, “other adorable baby items.”

“She seems beyond happy about becoming a mom,” the observer said. “She says she can’t wait to meet the baby.”

Do you LOVE this dress? Yes, I absolutely do! There is something really special about this to me! As you know, the spring season is here with all the bright fluffy pastels that we are used to seeing. I don’t know about any of my other dark skin women out there, but pastels are difficult to work with my complexion without looking like a Peep. Yes, you can have the marshmallow goodness coming to a closet near you, or you can add in some darker tones to balance out all the bright colors. I love the orange, green, and white in this dress but am enamored with the black stripes and the asymmetrical hem. Something about that hem gives me the flowing feel and makes me feel whimsical and beautiful. The colors say spring without being overwhelming, the dress is flattering for all sizes, what more can i say? I love it! Dress can be found at Dillard’s with a ridiculously low price tag of $148.

This dress also comes in yellow, taupe and black stripes. I love love this dress, it looks so fresh, airy  and girly. I love both color choices and don’t  know which one I want more. Hmm, internal debate begins.

Jessica stepped out in another cute dress today, this time in a pretty spring shade of green.

Jessica was out shopping at Bel Bambini baby boutique in Los Angeles.

Showing off her baby bump Jessica paired her colourful outfit with some beige and bright orange wedges and a black blazer jacket.

The pregnant star made her way into the upscale boutique accompanied by a friend, and kept refreshed with a bottle of Perrier mineral water.

The store, which is frequented by a slew of celebrities including Jessica Alba and Bruce Willis and his pregnant wife Emma Hemming of late, features an expansive nursery and furniture department.
