The 36-year-old fashionista invited ET to her hometown of Waco, Texas, over the weekend, for a ride-along to her Jessica Simpson Collection charity event at Dillard’s. During our interview, the blond beauty shared a few unknown facts about how she keeps her hot bod in tip-top shape.
The singer told ET the secret to her luscious, bouncy tresses is “Texas,” while “family” is the reason for her incredibly toned legs. She also credits a “push up bra” for giving her chest the perfect boost it needs so she can rock those low-cut dresses.
As for where she gets that killer body confidence?
“Sex,” she answered, when asked, “What’s the secret to feeling great about your body?”
While Simpson had no problem spilling those secrets, she was a little hesitant to share the key to a sexy marriage with husband Eric Johnson.
“I can’t give that away or you’ll all have a sexy marriage like me,” she exclaimed.
But that didn’t stop her from gushing over their 5-year-old daughter, Maxwell, who walked the runway at the charity soiree. She also shares a son, 3-year-old Ace, with Johnson.
“I’m so excited to see some of my friends and meet my fans here in Texas and just to be home,” she said. “It’s exciting. All of my family is here and my daughter is going to be in a runway show, like, what?!”
She also confirmed it won’t be too much longer before fans will get to hear new music.
“Well, I can’t let all of my secrets out, but there is a lot of music that you are about to hear as soon as I want you to hear it,” she explained.
Jessica Simpson’s two children, Maxwell and Ace, were downright adorable when they joined their mom and dad, Eric Johnson, at an event in Waco, Texas, on Saturday, May 6.
While the singer and fashion designer, 36, looked stunning in a black minidress, her 5-year-old mini-me wore a tie-dyed pink dress and tan gladiator sandals. Simpson’s son, 3, wore a gray top, like his dad, along with a black button-down, brown pants and a stylish hat.
The foursome were joined at the spring style event at Dillard’s in the Richland Mall by Simpson’s extended family, including mom Tina, grandmother Dorothy Drew, sister Ashlee and the singer’s husband, Evan Ross, along with their 21-month-old daughter, Jagger.
At the event, which featured a fashion show starring local kids, Texas-born Simpson also handed over a check for $10,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Waco. She recently created a limited-edition T-shirt to raise funds for the charity.
I “met” Derik when we were all on sweetkisses’ forum. He was sassy and 100% devoted to Jessica.
When some questioned her choices, he was always backing her. ALWAYS.
He is that guy that went to every concert, bought every record, waited in every line.
When Jessica did her musical hiatus and many left, he stood by, supporting her fashion collection.
But, even after all these years and many tries, he never managed to meet her.
Still, he persevered.
…And Texas was the place where dreams come true, it seems.
I am glad getting to know her was all he hoped for and more, and I hope their paths keep crossing.
I am glad Jessica got to meet someone whom was so touched and changed by her music.
I feel this meeting was a blessing for them both.
Here it is, in his own words:
I drove in total 25 hours to Texas for the Dillard’s event. This is the first one she’s had since I got out of the Navy and have been able to attend. I got there the day before to buy the $200 worth of Jessica Simpson Collection merchandise, which got you a seat for the fashion show and first in line privileges to meet Jessica. The manager was so shocked I drove so far that he reserved my seat right at the front! Bronx sat right across from me & was extremely intelligent, poised, and sweet. Being front row I saw a lot of the family, and got to say Hi to Jessica’s mom, Tina, and grandmother, Dorothy.
Before meeting her I was really nervous, and trying to take deep breaths. We immediately hugged and began talking about the new album. “It’s coming,” she says, and that it’s going to be more rock. We talked about Stevie Nicks, and how she sampled her on “Walkin Round in a Circle”.
I showed her my tattoo of her label and she gasped, jumped up from her seat and said “We gotta get a picture”. I went up where she was sitting and suggested we put both our legs on the chair. She complimented my legs and I told her I like to work out my calves so they can be as defined as hers.
She had the photographer there take pics, then she gave me a big hug. I told her I had her lyrics on my back but didn’t know if I should lift my shirt up but she really wanted to see. She was excited to see that too and again had the photographer take pics.
She suggested a few more poses, including a normal smiling pic and a pic kissing my cheek. We also took a boomerang pic together. Some of our conversation will be kept private for personal reasons.
I kept thinking security was gonna hurry me out of there because there was still a long line but she kept bringing me back. I got numerous hugs and kisses and felt so appreciated for being a dedicated fan.
– i tried to keep it simple & short! Use any pics I posted that you want!
Also, we talked about the reason behind my lyric tattoo (for motivation before going on deployment in a pre-Don’t Ask Don’t Tell repeal military). I think I ignited a spark in her and showed her that her music really does save people. I told her we need a new tour and that I’ll be front row, Pushing My Tush, and she laughed.
